Streets of Rage 3 is probably the one entry of the game that gets the most flak. And that's primarily because the English powers-that-be of Sega censored it and changed the plot, as well as making the game harder than the Japanese version. The English version's Easy Mode is really the Japanese version's Normal Mode, and Normal Mode is really Hard Mode, and so on. In Japan. the Easy Mode is much easier(bosses have only one bar of health apiece, for instance) and there are no penalties for playing the game on that difficulty. No Robot X teasing you for choosing the easiest difficulty at Stage 5! One of the few redeeming qualities of the game is that it has multiple endings like the first game. Aside from the Robot X ending you get in Stage 5 if you play the English version on Easy, there are also endings where you defeat Shiva again as the final boss and end up at a dead end after Mr. X(when you fail to save Ivan Petrov/Police Chief in Stage 6), defeat Mr. X but fail to save the city(save Ivan/Chief and let time run out during Mr. X fight), and defeat Mr. X and save the day(same as before, but beat Mr. X before time runs out).
